Rare migrant and wintering species in Maryland. When visiting, it is well east of its core range in the Great Plains (breeding) and southeastern U.S (wintering).

Where To Find

Look for this species during winter and migration in wet grasslands and marshy edges with dense stands of grasses and sedges.
