Seedpods of Green Ash in Caroline Co., Maryland (9/22/2012). Note how the wings of the seed extend down towards the base of the seed. This is a good identification point for separating this species from White Ash. White Ash seedpod wings do not extend far from the apex of the seed.

Green Ash in Caroline Co., Maryland (9/22/2012). In autumn Green Ash leaves almost always turn yellow. This is a good way to separate this species from Pumpkin Ash which also is found in wet woods. Pumpkin Ash leaves turn reddish purple in fall.
