Status

The Crimson-eyed Rosemallow is a common plant of brackish and freshwater marshes throughout the coastal plain of Maryland. It becomes more uncommon in the Piedmont and we only have one record west of the Piedmont from along the Potomac in Allegany County.

Where To Find

The marshes along the Choptank River at the Tanyard Bridge crossing is an ideal place to view thousands of Crimson-eyed Rosemallows in bloom during the middle of summer.

Relationships

The Hibiscus Bee is one of the main pollinators of Crimson-eyed Rosemallow.

According to the Host Plant Database the Io Moth uses Crimson-eyed Rosemallow as a host plant along with the Straight-lined Mallow Moth.
