Found scattered, in groups, or forming fairy rings in grassy areas, but not in forests.

Description

Cap: White to gray, dry, smooth, convex to nearly flat, margin inrolled when young--may show veil remnants on margin; flesh white, firm, staining pink or brown. Gills: Pinky-brown to bright pink, dark brown in age; crowded. Stalk: White, smooth, cylindrical or tapers down; ring usually collapses; no volva (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
