This species "differs from our native M. monachella in having a brown patch within the white patch along the costa. In M. monachella, the white reaches the costa for the whole distal portion of the wing". (Paul Dennehy/BugGuide) M. monachella is not verified for the project yet (2025).

Monopis longella is a moth of the family Tineidae. It has been recorded from China, Korea India, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia and Thailand^[1] and is an introduced species in North America, where it has been recorded from New York to central Florida and west to Michigan.^[2]
