Phanerochaete chrysorhiza in Somerset Co., Maryland (3/31/2011). Notes from Lance Biechele: "Often I hear, it isn't edible, so what good is it? Well, members of this genus are white rotters that devour the lignin in wood leaving only the cellulose. So, this fungus is very important in the paper industry (Tom Volk)."
