Description

Tiny fruiting body: head is white/gray/brown from nearly round to flattened and irregular; dry; may be finely cracked/roughened. Stalk: gray; up to 1/4" (6 mm) (J. Solem, pers. comm.).

Where To Find

Scattered/groups/clusters on decaying hardwood logs.

Phleogena is a fungal genus in the Phleogenaceae family. The genus is monotypic, containing the single species Phleogena faginea and is found mostly widespread in northern temperate areas,[2] but is occasionally found in southern areas.[1]
